The International Maritime Dangerous Goods Code lays out the regulatory framework for all aspects of handling dangerous goods and maritime pollutants in sea transport.
Amendment 42-24 includes revisions to various sections of the Code and to transport requirements for specific substances. It was adopted by IMO's Maritime Safety Committee at its 108th session in May 2024 and is mandatory from 1 January 2026, but may be applied on a voluntary basis from 1 January 2025.
